Joseph E. Oliva, Esq. '91CBA, '94L, serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Oliva is responsible for overseeing key operational functions of the University to support its mission, goals, and strategic objectives. He directs and oversees Athletics, Campus Facilities and Services, Enterprise Risk Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, Internal Audit, Marketing and Communications, Public Safety, Student Success and Retention Strategy, and University Relations. As the University’s Chief Operating Officer, he plays a critical role in guiding organizational strategy, fostering innovation, and driving operational excellence across diverse areas of the institution.

Giselle Gutiérrez serves as Executive Project Specialist, directly supporting the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Gutiérrez joined the University in October 2007 serving in various capacities under the direction of the Vice President for Administration, Secretary, and General Counsel.

In her current role, Ms. Gutiérrez will support the department in overseeing and fostering a cohesive and unified organizational culture that promotes teamwork and collaboration.

Ms. Gutiérrez’s commitment to St. John's University spans over a decade, reflecting her passion for the University's mission and values.
