Data Science

Data Science is responsible for consolidating and mining institutional data to provide informed insights and analytics. The office oversees St. John’s University’s data governance activities, liaising with each business unit and School and College, while also promoting a collaborative, “data-informed” culture.

The office prepares, analyzes, and federates trusted data throughout the University, advocating data accuracy and best practices, and provides a window into University data and tools through which data-informed decisions can be made.

Our Team

Nicholas Scott, Principal Data Scientist

Nick Scott started at St. John’s in October 2022, having worked in higher education since 2014. He has experience in financial aid, registrar operations, and information technology. His professional background includes relational databases and Structured Query Language, with an educational background in data analytics and machine learning. Mr. Scott works closely with key stakeholders at St. John’s to deliver data products, solve problems, and answer critical complex questions.

Adam E. Constantine ’08G, Senior Data Scientist

Adam E. Constantine ’08G has been a member of the St. John’s community since 2006. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics in 2008, served as an Adjunct/Visiting Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, and joined Institutional Research as Associate Director in 2018. In 2023, he joined the Data Science team as a Senior Data Scientist. He continues to teach in addition to his current duties. He holds an M.A. in Statistics from Columbia University (2019). His primary focus is on statistical analysis and web app design.
