Christian (Chris) P. Vaupel, Ed.D., was named Senior Vice President for Advancement in March 2024. In this role, Dr. Vaupel leads St. John’s fund-raising and alumni relations efforts, including preparations for the University’s upcoming, nine-figure comprehensive fund-raising campaign.

Dr. Vaupel first joined St. John’s in 2017 as Vice President for Advancement and University Relations. Prior to St. John’s, he served as Vice President for University Advancement at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. In that role, he was responsible for all of Adelphi’s fund-raising and alumni relations activities and programs and led the University’s first-ever fund-raising campaign.

Dr. Vaupel has also served as Associate Vice President of Development at the National Center for Disability Services (now The Viscardi Center) in Albertson, NY, where he directed the organization’s annual, major, and planned giving programs.

He earned a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) and a master’s degree from Adelphi University and completed both the Management Development Program and the Institute for Educational Management Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2014, he earned his doctorate in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Vaupel resides on Long Island, NY, with his wife and their two daughters.
