- Omar Lopez
Professor Omar Lopez is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Liberal Arts at St. John’s University, where he currently teaches FYS 100 in the Department of Core Studies. He is also pursuing a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education. Previously, Professor Lopez taught Technology in Education courses for the School of Education and Introduction to Digital Photography for the School of Liberal Arts at St. John’s University.
An alumnus of Hofstra University in Long Island, NY, Professor Lopez holds a degree in business marketing and technology. During his time there, he taught Introduction to Digital Photography in the Continuing Education Program. Shortly after earning his undergraduate degree, he successfully launched his first business. He later completed his Master’s Degree at St. John’s University in Queens, NY.
As a professional photographer, Professor Lopez is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and has served as Board Chair for Social Media for the Professional Photographers of Greater New York. Over the past decade, he has established a distinguished career as a national and international photographer, traveling across the United States, the Caribbean, and South America. His work spans national conventions, celebrity and political portraits, corporate events, and weddings, where his artistic approach creates timeless memories for clients.
Beyond his photography, Professor Lopez has served as Marketing Director for several nonprofit organizations, applying his expertise in business and technology to advance organizational missions and outreach.
Passionate about education and service, Professor Lopez actively supports the Vincentian Mission at St. John’s University. Through his volunteer efforts, he exemplifies the university’s commitment to compassion, service, and social justice, striving to make a meaningful impact on both academic and local communities.
