Big East Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium

On Saturday, March 15,  the BIG EAST Conference hosted their 4th annual BIG EAST Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium at Madison Square Garden, the morning of the Men’s Basketball Conference Championship Game.  St. John’s University, one of eleven (11) BIG EAST Conference institutions, was honored to return this year to face off in this academic competition which featured research projects from a variety of scholarly disciplines. 

Five (5) of our top undergraduate student research teams were nominated to showcase their posters and present their work at the “World’s Most Famous Arena”.  Research students: Angela Cheng, Adam Choudhry, Gabriella Colella, Maryam Dawod, Hoda Elkady, John Gaynor, Kristal Reyes, Alexander Singh, and Ludovica Zola; their faculty mentors: Dr. Malek Abunaemeh, Dr. Pengli Bu, Dr. Tracey Freiberg, Dr. Sei Higuchi, and Dr. Yan Helen Yu; along with two (2) faculty members serving as judges: Dr. Zoya McCants, and Dr. Jagannath Muzumdar; were selected to represent St. John’s at this prestigious event.

As an added bonus, participants were also invited to attend the BIG EAST Championship game in the evening and cheer on the St. John’s Red Storm men’s basketball team.  The spirit of St. John’s University was strong at the 2025 BIG EAST Conference making this a year to remember!
