Academic Attire

Graduates can now purchase keepsake academic attire online through the Herff Jones website.

Graduates who pre-purchase attire and accessories by Thursday, March 20, before 11:59 p.m. will have the opportunity to pick-up attire at the Queens Campus Bookstore beginning Tuesday, April 22 through Commencement Day.

• Graduate-Level students can order now through Monday, April 21 at 11:59 p.m.
• Undergraduate-Level students can order now through Wednesday, April 23 at 11;59 p.m.
  • A standard shipping cost of $14.99 will be incurred to ship attire and accessories to a student's home address.
  • Standard processing / shipping takes up to 3 weeks within the continental US . International orders can take up to 4 weeks for processing. 
• An expedited shipping cost of $21.30 will be incurred to ship attire and accessories to a student's home address between Thursday, April 24 and Friday, May 2. 

Graduates can purchase academic attire in person.

All graduates can visit the Campus Bookstore, during regular business hours, on the Queens Campus beginning on Monday, April 28 though Commencement Day to purchase academic attire and accessories in person.

Cost for Student Academic Attire ~ includes student's Cap with black tassel, Gown and Hood.

If you have questions or concerns about regalia affordability, or if the cost of the regalia may prevent you from participating in the Commencement ceremony, please contact the Office of University Events at universityevents@stjohns.edu, before Friday, April 11. All inquiries will be kept confidential.

Please note that the University does not offer cords for Latin Honors (Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude).

The Office of Alumni Relations will contact you with information regarding receiving a legacy cord to honor a parent, a sibling, or other family members with a degree from St. John's.

If students already purchased academic attire and would like to request a refund, here is the Herff Jones return policy:

1. Do not open the plastic wrapper the products arrived in. Refunds will only be processed for unused products and unopened products. The student is responsible for return shipping costs.
2. Include the order number and reason for return in the package.
3. Call customer service at 1-800-837-4235 to notify the Herff Jones team the order will be returned.
4. Mail the unused products back to the return address on the package. The package must be returned within 10 days of receiving product.
5. Due to the potential high volume of return requests, please understand that refunds could be processed beyond the typical 7-10 business days after receiving product at Herff Jones.
