Associate Professor
Lawrence Pitilli is an Associate Professor of Speech who has been teaching a wide variety of speech-related courses at St. John’s for over 30 years. He has served on many college and university-wide committees and is very active in the student retention program SAFE (Student And Faculty Engagement).In addition to regularly presenting academic papers and writing book reviews in the area of popular culture, he is the author of Doo-Wop Acappella: A Story of Street Corners, Echoes, and Three-Part Harmonies (Rowman&Littlefield) as well as contributing chapters and essays to other books and journals. In addition to his academic life, he has worked as a composer, lyricist, vocalist, and musician in theatre and popular music.Teaching Interests
