Luce Pierre-Russon '14 Selected as Finalist for 2013 PSJD Pro Bono Publico Award
PSJD, an initiative of the National Association for Law Placement, recently named Luce Pierre-Russon ‘14 a finalist for its 2013 Pro Bono Publico Award. Presented to one law student annually, the award recognizes the significant contributions that law students make to underserved populations, to the public interest community, and to legal education by performing pro bono work.
PARTICIPATE '13 Program Makes All Politics Local at St. John's
The St. John’s University PARTICIPATE’13 Program recently concluded its fall 2013 line-up with a post-Election Day recap featuring Crain’s New York business journalist and author, Greg David. Mr. David discussed his 2012 book Modern New York: The Life and Economics of a City and provided a preview of local New York City politics and policies to look out for in 2014. During a lively Q&A session that followed the lecture, Mr. David fielded an array of questions on gentrification, the economy and the agenda of the next mayor of New York City.
St. John's Law Programs and Initiatives Foster Diversity in the Legal Profession
From its start in downtown Brooklyn, St. John’s Law has been committed to improving diversity in the legal profession. Today, through initiatives coordinated by the Career Development Office, students have opportunities to participate in summer diversity programs offered by law firms, corporations, and local courts that enable them to gain valuable, hands-on legal experience.
St. John's Law Team Achieves at Thomas Tang National Moot Court Competition
On November 8, 2013, Jonathan Yi '14 and Lawson Huynh '16 competed for St. John’s Law at the annual Thomas Tang National Moot Court Competition in Kansas City, Missouri. Coached by Alison Bomba ’14, the team advanced to the quarterfinals and earned second best brief. Lawson was also named second best oralist.
