Joan E. DeBello

Professor
Dr. DeBello is currently a Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science and Chair of the Division of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Science for the Collin's College of Professional Studies. She has received her Doctorate from Columbia University. While at St. John’s University, she taught various mathematics courses, including College Algebra, Statistics, and Calculus, as well as various programming courses in Java and C++. She is also active in grant writing and was a former CTL fellow. Additionally, she moderates the St. John's University ACM Student Chapter and is a board member and the vice chairperson for the NY Metro ACM Chapter. She previously served as the chair of Education for the ACM New York Metro Chapter. She is also the faculty coordinator for the St. John's Women in Science Program. Her various research areas include increasing the number of women and the under-represented in computer science and mathematics, Internet of Things, Mathematics in Sports, computer science and cyber security education, computational mathematics, and game and GUI programming.
