
The John Dewey Society of The School of Education: Teacher Talk (October 19th)
The John Dewey Society of The School of Education, Staten Island campus, hosted a Teacher Talk entitled Teacher as Writer: Writer as Teacher on October 19th, 2017. Dr. Dennis Carroll a) described the writing landscape, b) unfolded one’s “writing trail,” c) provided supportive strategies, and d) underscored messages that educators must deliver about the art of writing in today’s schools.
Approximately 40 participants gathered in the Kiernan Lounge of the Kelleher Center to enjoy a light dinner while engaging in thoughtful conversation. Certificates of Participation were awarded for professional development purposes; a practice reflective of today’s teaching and learning environments.
Dr. Regina Mistretta, Moderator for the John Dewey Society, states “It is quite uplifting to witness undergraduate students designing and promoting their own professional learning space.”
