Eight outstanding members of the St. John’s Red Storm community were enshrined into the Athletics Hall of Fame in January, celebrating another chapter of a rich athletics legacy that spans more than a century.
The elite group, the 21st class to be enshrined in the Hall, included three-time PGA Tour winner and 2011 PGA Champion Keegan Bradley ’08CPS; NBA veteran Felipe López ’98SVC; women's volleyball standout and Head Coach at Pace University, Jackie (Ahlers) Granger ’06CPS; National Championship and Olympic fencing coach, Yury Gelman; Track and Field All- American Roman Linscheid ’95CBA; Women's Basketball All-American Da'Shena Stevens ’12TCB; and Men’s Soccer’s 2003 MAC Hermann Trophy winner, Chris Wingert ’03CPS. Legendary baseball coach Joseph Russo was enshrined posthumously.
“We are thrilled to welcome back these distinguished individuals to our campus,” said Mike Cragg.
“These honorees are exceptional representatives of St. John’s Athletics and well-deserving of this prestigious honor.”
The inductees were unanimously recommended for enshrinement by the Athletics Hall of Fame committee, a 12-member panel that includes former student-athletes and coaches, administrators, and supporters of the athletics program.
This was the first enshrinement ceremony since 2015.
