President Barack Obama has nominated George J. Tsunis ’92 as the United States Ambassador to Norway. The appointment is pending confirmation hearings in the U.S. Senate.
Team from Moot Court Honor Society Takes Second Place at Emory Competition
A team from the St. John’s Law Moot Court Honor Society took second place at the Emory Civil Rights and Liberties Moot Court Competition. The team included David Hommel ’14, Andrew Lee '14, and coaches Elizabeth Shumejda '14 and Donna Aldea ’98. David and Andrew captured the third-best and fifth-best oralist awards, respectively. The team also earned the third-best brief award.

Students in Securities Arbitration Clinic Gain Practical Skills and Experience in Dispute Resolution
On Friday, November 22, 2013, students in the Law School’s Securities Arbitration Clinic participated in a mock arbitration at the New York City office of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Arbitrators from FINRA's neutral roster volunteered their time to hear the dispute, running the hearing much like an actual arbitration.

Law School Welcomes Rabbi Yaron Catane, Former Legal Counsel to the Chief Rabbinate of Israel
Rabbi Yaron Catane, who until recently served as Legal Counsel to the Chief Rabbinate of the State of Israel and now deals with religious affairs as a Legal Advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office, visited St. John’s School of Law on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 as a guest lecturer in Professor Keith Sharfman’s seminar on Jewish Law. The visit was sponsored by the Law School’s Center for Law and Religion.

Law School Hosts Annual Diversity Day and Admissions Fair
On Saturday, November 9, 2013, 40 students of color and 43 law schools from across the country took part in The Ronald H. Brown Center for Civil Rights and Economic Development’s annual Diversity Day and Admissions Fair. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the day-long event offers a unique opportunity for participants in the Ronald H. Brown Prep Program for College Students to explore the law school admissions process and to interview with law school admissions officers.
Luce Pierre-Russon '14 Selected as Finalist for 2013 PSJD Pro Bono Publico Award
PSJD, an initiative of the National Association for Law Placement, recently named Luce Pierre-Russon ‘14 a finalist for its 2013 Pro Bono Publico Award. Presented to one law student annually, the award recognizes the significant contributions that law students make to underserved populations, to the public interest community, and to legal education by performing pro bono work.
