St. John’s Institute Bolsters Catholic Education around the Region
As it begins its seventh year, the Institute for Catholic Schools at St. John’s University continues to strengthen elementary and secondary Catholic schools throughout the New York region by regularly offering professional development and other programs for teachers and administrators.

The John Dewey Society of The School of Education: Teacher Talk
The John Dewey Society of The School of Education, Staten Island campus, hosted a Teacher Talk entitled Teacher as Writer: Writer as Teacher on October 19th, 2017. Dr. Dennis Carroll a) described the writing landscape, b) unfolded one’s “writing trail,” c) provided supportive strategies, and d) underscored messages that educators must deliver about the art of writing in today’s schools.

School of Education- Faculty Spotlight Luncheon
The Dean’s Scholars organization of The School of Education, Staten Island campus, hosted a Faculty Spotlight Luncheon focused on the topic of Bullying on September 18th, 2017. Adjunct Assistant Professor Adele Kosinski a) defined bullying, b) demonstrated existing types of bullying, c) provided supportive resources, and d) underscored messages that educators must deliver about bullying in today’s schools.

St. John’s Dedicates New Long Island Graduate Center
St. John’s University celebrated a new chapter in its service to the Long Island academic community with the blessing and dedication on Thursday, August 17, of its new Long Island Graduate Center, located in Hauppauge, NY.
