Alumni Couples Return to Campus to Celebrate Their Love
Demonstrating their love for alma mater and each other, 136 alumni couples returned to St. John’s Queens, NY, campus on Saturday, February 10, for the University’s annual Blessing of the Couples Mass.

Difference Makers Completion Ceremony
On Tuesday, January 30th, nearly 200 high school students, parents, teachers and principals, and not-for-profit partners joined the St. John's University, Staten Island Campus community to celebrate their completion of the Difference Makers program, a Staten Island campus based civic engagement initiative that transforms high school students’ community service into college readiness with the help of St. John’s University community partnerships.

Students Stand Up for Life at National 45th Annual March for Life
At around 5 a.m. on Friday, January 19, a packed bus departed St. John’s University’s Queens campus bound for Washington, DC, to join nearly 500,000 people in the 45th Annual March for Life. Held every year at this time, the march draws attention to the 1973 decision of the Supreme Court to legalize abortion in the Roe v. Wade case and rallies to overturn it.

University Mission Celebrated with Local Catholic High School Leaders
In what has become an annual fall tradition on the Queens, NY, campus, St. John’s University hosted local Catholic high school principals, guidance counselors, and senior University administrators for an appreciation dinner and discussion of shared issues and ideas in secondary and higher education.

Mission and Service Celebrated During Founder’s Week
The premier event of St. John’s University’s annual Founder’s Week celebration (held September 20–27) is the Vincentian Convocation, which this year welcomed to the Queens campus for the first time the Most Rev. John O. Barres, S.T.D., J.C.L., D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

St. John’s Institute Bolsters Catholic Education around the Region
As it begins its seventh year, the Institute for Catholic Schools at St. John’s University continues to strengthen elementary and secondary Catholic schools throughout the New York region by regularly offering professional development and other programs for teachers and administrators.

Poverty Conference Seeks Solutions to Homelessness
Reaching out to those in need—especially the homeless—is a cornerstone of St. John’s University’s Vincentian Mission. Equally important is the effort to identify and find solutions to the root causes of the problem. These were the goals of the 10th Biennial Vincentian Chair of Social Justice Conference, held October 21 at the D’Angelo Center on the Queens campus.

On a recent visit to St. John’s University’s Rome, Italy, campus, President Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., had the opportunity to discuss the University’s enduring Vincentian mission and the unique experiential learning that takes place at St. John’s, known as academic service-learning, with Juliet Linley, Vatican Correspondent for EWTN, the Global Catholic Television Network which broadcasts in 140 countries.

Spotlight on Religious Life During Brothers’/Sisters’ Night
St. John’s University’s Campus Ministry sponsored its third annual Brothers’/Sisters’ Night at the 5:30 p.m. Sunday Student Mass on September 17 in St. Thomas More Church. This event gives students the opportunity to meet and pray with Sisters and Brothers who serve the local Church.

St. John’s Students Attend National Assembly
More than 900 Vincentians gathered for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s (SVDP) Annual National Assembly in August. Executive board members from the St. John’s chapter joined them in this year’s host city of Tampa, FL.
