I am currently a junior at St. John’s University seeking a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management with a minor in Business Administration, on my way to earning a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in International Hospitality Management. I completed secondary school in my home country of Mexico; my father and I always dreamed that I would be able to pursue my master’s in the United States.
I enrolled at St. John’s as an undecided major, and it took me until my last semester in my sophomore year to decide my concentration and what I wanted to do in my future. I have been playing golf my entire life and recognize that the sport is hospitality related in various ways.
A bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management with a minor in Business Administration opens the door to many opportunities. However, I realize that I will need a higher degree to achieve the level of success I desire. The M.S. in International Hospitality Management opens your eyes even wider: it shows you how the world works and offers global opportunities as you learn about various markets and cultures.
I do not believe in coincidences; there is a reason why things happen. Every person was sent to this world with a written story and with their own purpose. I believe this is my purpose and this is what I am supposed to be doing. This is my own story and I am living it in the best way possible, learning from great professors.
