Brandon Knapp Named First Team Academic All-District

Sophomore recognized for excellence on the pitch and in the classroom

Sophomore Brandon Knapp was honored yesterday for his achievements on the field and in the classroom, earning a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.
 
Knapp, a business major who registered a 3.94 GPA during his freshman year at the University, has been an essential piece of the Red Storm's stellar 2019 season so far. The Abingdon, Md., native has played and started all 17 of the team's matches, serving as a key facilitator on offense and anchoring the Red Storm's defensive unit when called upon. He currently ranks fifth on the team in points with three goals and an assist on the campaign.
 
With Knapp, a sophomore captain, leading the way, St. John's is 13-3-1 on the year with a 6-2-1 record in league play. The Johnnies currently sit at no. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and ranked fourth in the latest RPI released on Monday.
 
The Johnnies, who locked up the no. 2 seed and a first round by in the BIG EAST Men's Championship, will kick off postseason action on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The Red Storm will play host to third-seeded Providence.
