Taste of St. John’s a Success

August 14, 2019

Foodies and Johnnies united and delighted in the culinary offerings featured during Taste of St. John’s, which was held in Carnesecca Arena on August 6.

More than 300 members of the St. John’s community sampled food prepared by local restaurateurs. The event began with a greeting from Mike Cragg, Director of Athletics, and Mike Anderson, the new Men’s Basketball Head Coach. Mr. Anderson expressed his gratitude for the loyalty exhibited by members of the St. John’s community and gave hope to fans who predict a successful upcoming season.

Mr. Anderson and his wife, Marcheita, received a warm welcome from those gathered. All members of Mr. Anderson's staff, including Associate Head Coach TJ Cleveland and Assistant Coaches Van Macon and Steve DeMeo, were in attendance.

The event was so successful that it is expected to become an annual summer tradition, which pleased Teresa A. Mason ’79SVC, ’02HON. “It was a great event,” she said. “I enjoyed meeting other alumni and engaging with the guests. The tasting menu was exciting; it was like having food trucks inside the arena. The portions were exactly right. Also, meeting the coaching staff in a relaxed environment was the icing on the cake. I definitely plan to attend again next year.”
