Networking Event Strengthens Relationship with Alumni at Bloomberg

Several St. John’s University alumni employed at Bloomberg L.P. (Bloomberg) joined University leadership and current students to discuss business trends and employment and internship opportunities at a special networking reception held at the University’s Manhattan campus on June 5, 2018.

“Tonight, we have the opportunity to deepen our relationship with the St. John’s alumni community working at one of the most successful businesses in the world,” said Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., President of St. John’s University, in his opening remarks.

“We appreciate the continued dedication of alumni, such as you, who give back to the University and who are committed to helping students forge successful paths as they begin their careers.”

Seventy-three St. John’s alumni currently work for Bloomberg, a privately held global information and technology company. Bloomberg connects “decision makers to a dynamic network of data, people, and ideas—accurately delivering business and financial information, news and insights to customers around the world.” The company boasts 19,000 employees in 176 global locations.

Dr. Gempesaw noted that through the St. John’s University Aspire Mentor Program—which supports students who are aspiring to reach their professional goals—Bloomberg and the University can continue to develop synergies that benefit current students through achievement-oriented career mentorship and professional development.

The event was attended by Bloomberg employees who are St. John’s alumni, as well as Norean R. Sharpe, Ph.D., Dean and Joseph H. and Maria C. Schwartz Distinguished Chair for The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, Katia Passerini, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Professional Studies, and members of St. John’s President’s Society.

We are grateful that you have joined us here tonight to share your stories with each other and our students,” said Christian P. Vaupel, Ed.D., Vice President for Advancement and University Relations. “Like so many others, you demonstrate to students and future generations that anything is possible with a St. John’s degree.”
