In today’s fast-paced, technologically-sophisticated world of business, networking is still one of the most important resources for career success. Making connections on a personal level can result in tremendous rewards for individuals seeking to either advance their current career or transition into something new.

For alumni of St. John’s The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, the opportunity to form relations with other professionals is made easier through the efforts of The Peter J. Tobin College of Business Alumni Association (TCBAA). Each year the TCBAA sponsors a networking reception in which alumni can meet and mingle with business professionals in leading companies located through the greater New York metropolitan area.

“The TCBAA is really committed to maintaining strong connections among our Business alumni, as well as between the alumni and St. John’s,” remarked Desiree Henry ’10MBA, Assistant Director, Office of Alumni Relations. “Their Annual Networking Reception has become one of TCBAA’s most popular events because it offers our alumni a chance to socialize with each other while developing relationships that can prove useful on both the personal and professional levels. Making the right contacts today can be a big help tomorrow.”

Alumni are genuinely appreciative that the TCBAA continues to sponsor events such as this. They know that it gives them a valuable resource that would otherwise be unavailable to them as they seek to advance their careers. And they also enjoy catching up with friends and former classmates who share their connection to St. John’s.

This year’s event was held at Stout NYC, a popular venue in midtown Manhattan with the look and feel of a typical Irish pub. The camaraderie of the of the alumni was greatly apparent as they exchanged business cards and shared contact information with their fellow graduates.

“The Annual Networking Reception was a great success,” said Sherwin Cadore ’10TCB “There was incredible energy in the room, and the connections I made through conversations with former classmates, current students, and  other alumni translated into a truly valuable experience. The spirit of TCBAA is alive and well!”
