“Catch it While You Can”: Apply Now to Study Abroad This Summer or Fall

January 12, 2012

Imagine a life-changing summer visiting Russia’s legendary Kremlin, exploring China's Yangtze River or wandering through the Left Bank of Paris — all while earning college credit.

Or spend this fall living, learning and earning credit in three magnificent European cities in a single semester.

Take advantage of St. John's University's wide range of Global Studies programs scheduled for this summer and fall semesters. Students already are filling spots for these popular programs, so you'll want to apply quickly, said Matthew Pucciarelli, Associate Vice President of Global Studies at St. John's.

Summer 2012
This summer marks the first time that Pell-eligible students can receive a $750 Licari Scholarship to offset their Study Abroad fees. Students interested in this competitive scholarship must apply by March 15.

Some of this summer’s Global Studies options are available for the first time in years. “Students should catch them now, or they may miss their chance to study in some remarkable places with fantastic faculty,” Mr. Pucciarelli added.

Varying from 10 days to a month, summer programs allow students to explore the language and culture of Argentina, Bermuda, China, England, France, Guatemala, Italy, Russia, Spain, Turkey and Vietnam. Students from other colleges and universities also are invited to apply.

Fall 2012
Students also have extra incentives to go global this fall: it will be the third year in a row that St. John’s has not raised program fees. “It hasn’t been easy,” said Mr. Pucciarelli, “but we are thrilled that we’ve been able to do it. Our goal is to make sure all students have the opportunity to study abroad regardless of their financial background.”

Fall options include a semester at St. John’s Rome, Italy, campus; the Paris, France, location; or the University’s unique Discover the World: Europe program, with the opportunity to study in three great cities—Rome, Paris and Seville, Spain.
