- Wellness Reminder
We made it through—together! As the University prepares for the Fall 2021 semester, we encourage you to make time this summer for your own physical and mental wellness. Here are a few resources and services to support your efforts.
*******************************************
Employee Assistance Program
Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers many free services, ranging from 24/7 counseling support to an extensive list of resources relating to marital and family conflicts, job-related difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression and overall emotional well-being, parent and child relationships, legal and financial counseling, financial planning, and more. EAP wellness professional counselors are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, when you need help or guidance. Contact our EAP provider, Corporate Counseling Associates, Inc., at 800-833-8707 or visit www.myccaonline.com and use company code “STJOHNS” to log in.
Gym/Fitness Center Reimbursement Program
You can apply once in a six-month period for reimbursement at a qualifying fitness center. Your reimbursement period begins on the date of your first fitness facility visit or class and ends six months later—after you have completed 50 visits/classes. Both physical and virtual memberships are eligible for reimbursement; however, the accommodation to include virtual workouts expired when the New York State disaster emergency ended. Virtual classes taken after June 24, 2021, are not eligible for reimbursement. Check here for more details.
Preventive Care
- Medical Benefits: If you currently have medical benefits with the University, you are entitled to one preventive physical exam at no cost per year. We encourage you to schedule your annual physical exam with your doctor. Log in to the United Healthcare member site for information on your medical benefits.
- Dental Benefits: If you are currently enrolled in dental benefits, you are entitled to two dental cleanings per year. According to the American Dental Association, visiting your dentist regularly is important because some diseases or medical conditions have symptoms that can appear in the mouth.
Time Off
It has been an extraordinary year, and many of us have not had an opportunity to relax. Take some time to unwind by scheduling a vacation. Make sure to secure your supervisor’s approval in advance, and consider spacing vacation intervals for the remainder of the year. Staycation ideas are available online; if you decide to travel, make sure you are aware of any applicable COVID-19 restrictions.
