- US Cyber Team wins Bronze Medal at the International Cybersecurity Challenge
Dr. Suzanna Schmeelk, Assistant Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator of the M.S. in Cyber and Information Security program was selected for the second time in two years to help lead Team USA, the US Cyber Team, as a volunteer Senior Technical Mentor for the International Cybersecurity Challenge (ICC).
In June 2022, The US Cyber Team, managed by Katzcy & Play Cyber founded by Jessica Gulick, competed in their first International Cybersecurity Challenge (ICC) held in Athens, Greece. Team USA won the Bronze Medal. The 2021-2022 Team Leadership included: Dr. TJ O'Connor, Head Coach; Dr. Dane Brown, Red vs. Blue Coach; Jasmine Jackson, CTF Coach; Dr. Bryson Payne, Senior Tech Mentor; and Dr. Suzanna Schmeelk, Senior Tech Mentor.
Year 2 kicked-off at Season II Draft Day in Washington, D.C. on Monday October 17, 2022. The Team Leadership included Ken Jenkins, Head Coach; Dr. Dane Brown, Assistant Head Coach; Evan Dornbush, Red vs. Blue Coach; Jacob Elliott, CTF Coach; Steve Cobb & Spencer Lome Assistant Coaches; Dr. Bryson Payne, Dr. Suzanna Schmeelk, RJ Crandall, Matt Hansen, Tim King, Senior Tech Mentors; Chris Issing, John Johnson, Joshua Klosterman and Tyler Randolph, Junior Tech Mentor
The US Cyber Team expects to compete at the next International Cybersecurity Championship and Conference (IC3) July 31–August 4, 2023 in San Diego, CA, USA.
