- University Recognizes Employees for Completing Certificate Programs
St. John’s University honored 35 employees who have completed Training and Development certificate programs at a graduation ceremony and luncheon held on October 6 in the D’Angelo Center on the Queens, NY, campus.
This was the 14th graduation held by the Office of Human Resources. A total of 556 employees have been awarded with certificates of completion since the program began. This year, 43 certificates were conferred on 35 employees, including 26 Equity and Inclusion Certificates, four Management Development Certificates, six Professional Development Certificates, and seven Continuing Education Certificates.
The presentation of awards included remarks from certificate recipients, who addressed members of the University community in attendance, including their colleagues, managers, and University leaders, including President, Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. They shared how the Training and Development program has impacted them, and the great potential that they feel they now have to initiate positive changes on their teams and throughout the University.
In addition to celebrating the graduates annually, the event also serves to recognize and applaud their managers, who witness the impact of employee development within their departments and encourage their employees to pursue professional growth. Each graduate completed, on average, between 45–65 hours of professional development. As a testament of employee commitment and persistence, several employees completed more than one certificate program with no overlapping requirements.
