University Recognizes 2019 Values and Inclusion Program Nominees

The Office of Human Resources hosted a reception to recognize and thank all Values and Inclusion Program (VIP) nominees on May 15. In attendance were VIP nominees, selection committee members, and Human Resources staff and administrators.

This new employee recognition initiative, which acknowledges our University’s values-rooted inclusion efforts, was launched in March. A total of 26 nominations were received; they included faculty, administrators, and staff from the Queens and Staten Island, NY, campuses.

“Congratulations to all of our VIP nominees,” said Nada M. Llewellyn, Esq., Chief Diversity Officer, Associate Vice President for Human Resources, and Deputy General Counsel. “We look forward to next year, when we recognize more colleagues for their inclusive excellence.”

Ms. Llewellyn noted that the award recognizes the nominees’ contributions toward making St. John’s University a more inclusive workplace and learning environment. She also shared a sampling of the praise for the nominees as described in their nomination forms. 

Based upon the recommendations of the VIP selection committee, Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., President of St. John’s University, recognized Jeremy V. Cruz, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Theology and Religious Studies; Matthew G. Pucciarelli, Ph.D., Associate Provost, Office of Global Studies; and Fay Dimino, Secretary III, The School of Education, Staten Island Campus, at the Employee Convocation on June 4.
