- Transition to Microsoft Teams for Phone Service
As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance communication and collaboration within the St. John’s University community, we are transitioning to Microsoft Teams for all phone services. This change streamlines our communication tools, improves efficiency, and leverages the integrated features of Teams for better overall productivity.
Key Benefits:
- Unified Communication: Teams integrates chat, video, voice calls, and file sharing into one platform.
- Enhanced Collaboration: Benefit from real-time collaboration features, including shared documents and project management tools.
- Remote Work Efficiency: Stay connected and productive from any location with Teams’ seamless remote work support.
Many departments have already made the switch, but the Office of Information Technology (IT) will work to make this switch University-wide over the next few months. This change replaces your current phone, and going forward, your phone service will be through your laptop or computer with a headset. You will keep your existing extension to ensure a smooth transition with minimal interruption.
Important Update: Individual department fax services will be consolidated to two campus locations: the IT Service Center in Newman Hall and the Print and Distribution Center in the Red Storm Battalion Army ROTC Reserve Center. Please visit either of these locations if you need to send or receive a fax.
If you already use Teams for chat and virtual meetings, this transition will be seamless. For assistance, please visit IT Help Portal (ithelp.stjohns.edu) or contact the IT Service Desk at 718-990-5000.
We appreciate your cooperation and support as we make this important transition.
