- Support for AAPI Well-Being
We know this continues to be a challenging time. The strain of the pandemic, along with racism and xenophobia, persists. Most recently, a spree of violent attacks against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) has left many grappling with anxiety, anger, sadness, and fear.
Since the start of COVID-19, hate crimes, harassment, and racism against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have increased drastically. Through the end of 2020, the group Stop Asian American Pacific Islander Hate received more than 2,800 firsthand reports of anti-Asian hate across 47 states and Washington, DC.
We want to remind all who are directly or indirectly impacted that you are not alone. You and your family members have free, confidential access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for support, guidance, and referrals for a variety of needs and concerns.
Please reach out to the EAP confidentially by calling 800-833-8707. Counselors are available 24/7 ready to assist. You can also log on to www.myccaonline.com (company code: stjohns) for extensive information and resources.
In addition, the EAP has compiled this list of national and community-based resources that support Asian American Pacific Islander mental health, self-care, safety, social action, and allyship.
We want to also remind everyone that any bias incidents, whether or not related to COVID-19, should be reported at www.stjohns.edu/reportbias. You can also call Equal Opportunity and Compliance at 718-990-1865 (press 4).
Please stay safe and healthy, and remember to take good care of yourself!
