- Return to Campus Task Force: Preparing for the Fall Semester Plan
Since the formation of the Return to Campus Task Force (RCTF) which I announced on May 1, 2020, the Task Force members have been working diligently to develop a comprehensive plan for the safe and gradual return of our students, faculty, administrators and staff to campus in the coming fall semester. The work of the RCTF has been guided by federal, state, and local guidelines and recommended best practices to control the spread of the coronavirus. The health and safety of St. John’s students and employees remain our highest priority.
After more than two months of hard work, the RCTF is releasing today the University’s updated plan for campus reopening, “Preparing for the Fall Semester.” I ask that you carefully review and refer to the RCTF plan as needed in the days and weeks to come. As we prepare for the fall semester campus reopening, I strongly encourage the entire St. John’s community to support our recommended COVID-19 policies and protocols so that we can mitigate the risk of the coronavirus and provide a safe and healthy learning and working environment for all.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the members of the Task Force, co-chaired by Joseph E. Oliva, Esq. Vice President for Administration, Secretary, and General Counsel, and Simon G. Møller, Ph.D. Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. During this time of great challenge and uncertainty, the Task Force members have demonstrated a collaborative spirit of service and an unwavering commitment to the St. John's community. Let us show the same spirit and commitment as look forward to continuing our mission to provide a quality education to our students, strengthened by the Catholic and Vincentian values that have guided St. John’s for the past 150 years.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Conrado "Bobby" Gempesaw, Ph.D., President
