Title of Project: Cardiology Research Volunteer Associate
Level: Undergraduate
Year in Program can be Graduate or Undergraduate
Year: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior
Type of Position: Unpaid
Hours per week: 10-20 some flexibility
Semesters Recruiting: Fall, Spring, Summer
Campus(es): Queens
Current Projects: Reducing heart attack and stroke; New Influenza vaccines in heart disease patients; New heart failure drugs; New coronary stents
Volunteers needed for: Statistical Analysis for large data sets
Qualifications:
- High School Seniors/College Students or graduates, foreign graduates (non-licensed)
- Good organizational and communications skills (written and oral)
- Strong computer skills
- Willingness to take initiative
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to follow instructions
Objective: To assist Investigators with various aspects of the research protocol, that may include:
- Data collection
- Data entry
- Statistical analysis
- Subject identification in preparation for PI recruitment
- Regulatory management
- Specimen processing
- Participates in regular department research meetings
- Reports on status of research activities
- Performs additional functions incidental to research activities
Terms of Service:
Schedules and time commitments can be flexible although they are established and agreed upon by the research volunteer and principal investigator.
