- Reminder: Summer Workweeks Start June 2
I am pleased to announce that Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P., President, has approved a modified work week schedule for Summer 2023. Administrators and staff will have 10 Fridays off this summer. The University will be closed on Fridays beginning on Friday, June 2, and continuing through Friday, August 4. The normal work week schedule resumes on Monday, August 7.
For record-keeping purposes, each Friday during these summer periods will be counted as a full workday for charging vacation and sick time, except if it falls on a scheduled holiday. For example:
- If you take vacation the entire week of July 3, 2023, three days will be counted as vacation time since the University will be closed on July 3 and 4.
- If you take vacation the entire week of July 24, five days will be counted as vacation time.
In addition, the 2024 holiday schedule has been approved. Please consult the employee holiday schedule for the list of regular and special holidays observed by St. John’s University in 2023 and 2024.
As in previous years, the holiday and summer schedules do not apply to certain departments or positions due to the nature of the work performed by those departments or positions. Please check with your supervisor if you have any questions.
We will continue to monitor these schedules to determine if modifications are needed and will provide advance notice if any changes are implemented.
