- Miraculous Medal Solemn Novena (November 13–21)
Among the Vincentian devotions is one to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, under her title of “Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.” When you enter St. Thomas More Church, you see the story of the Medal presented in the rounded mosaic on the right.
In honor of the annual Feast of the Miraculous Medal on November 27, Campus Ministry has a Solemn Novena. These nine days give us the special opportunity to seek Mary’s intercession so that we may faithfully follow her Son. The feast of the Miraculous Medal celebrates the Blessed Virgin’s apparition to St. Catherine Labouré, who was shown the Medal.
We invite you to join the University community for the Solemn Novena, which begins on Monday, November 13, and will be prayed before the 8 a.m. and after the 12:15 p.m. Masses.
If you cannot be with us in person, we invite you to be present in spirit. Pray the Novena each day in union with those who are gathered with us. Copies of the Novena will be available in St. Thomas More Church for you to take.
Throughout the Novena we will remember your special intentions. Write your prayers on petition notes found in the Narthex of St. Thomas More Church by the mosaic of the Miraculous Medal. At the conclusion of the Solemn Novena, these petitions will be carried to the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA. It will be placed at the altar in Mary’s Shrine for the Feast of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. You can also submit your prayer intentions online.
May God, through the intercession of Mary, bless you and your loved ones.
