The world is ruled by the idea that power is more important than principle. Many lust power over anything else and will do anything for it. This message in today’s reading is not necessarily about how people attain power and the immoral acts that come with that goal, but rather how we are impacted by other people’s greed.
We are often naive about the actions of many people because, in our hearts, we want to believe that humans will always do the right thing and will not betray us. In many cases, though, human nature is overridden by our internal desires.
When we feel like we are being hurt or taken advantage of, we must take a step back and analyze the situation in a much more spiritual sense. A calm mind leads to great things. The serenity of analysis can lead you to solve mysteries you never thought were there. I believe that in these moments, God shows you things because God realizes that you are focused and ready to accept the challenge life throws you.
When facing hardships, I try to face them in the most level way possible, but it is also impossible to stop your emotions from getting in the way. In many ways, I use prayer as meditation, telling myself that I can trust God to help me navigate the situation. We are God’s children, which means that we all have this ability to overcome many obstacles.
