- Lenten Reflections 2020: Day 31
Name: Nigel W. Gretton
Title: Director of Performing Arts
Department/College: Student Affairs
Scripture of the Day: Wisdom 2:1a, 12–22, Psalm 34, Mt 4
This particular Lenten season has called me to remain still and listen for God’s direction. The scriptural inspiration tells one story of the persecution of Jesus, where he was being challenged to prove that God is real. He remained unshaken, even in the face of adversaries.
As we face a global health crisis during this season, I fell victim to a physical challenge. It caused me to be still, rest more than I have in a very long time, and wait for Divine enlightenment.
I expect to emerge from this season stronger, wiser, and more enlightened. In the words of the old hymn, I will proclaim, “The strife is o’er, the battle done, Alleluia!”
