- Lenten Reflections 2020: Day 22
Name: Kyle Waibel
Title: Student, Class of 2020
Scripture of the Day: DEUT 4:1, 5-9; Psalm 147; MT 5:17-19
After reading the scripture for today, I was drawn to the idea of following “the least of the commandments.” As I reach the midpoint of Lent, I think it is only natural that I begin to lose focus on my Lenten sacrifice, similar to how on a larger scale I begin to lose focus on my faith after long periods of time in which I feel God’s presence in my life. The Gospel reading today reminds me to take a deeper look at my individual Lenten sacrifice, the parts of my spiritual life I feel I am overlooking, and my faith to me as a whole.
During this time, I will push myself to focus on what I may be overlooking in my life. I believe this challenge is two-fold: first I must examine my own life and look for things that I may be ignoring, and in the second half of this Lenten season I will focus energy into correcting and giving the time and energy to those things that I find to be lacking in my life.
Personally, this is what God is always calling us to do: to always be refining our faith and striving to correct our mistakes and take a finer look at our lives. There is no better time to do so than during this period of reflection.
