- Lenten Reflections 2020: Day 21
Name: Campus Ministry
Scripture of the Day: Feast of St. Patrick - Dan 3:25, 34-43; Psalm 25; MT 18:21-35
On this St. Patrick’s Day, we turn to one of the more popular Christian saints, St. Patrick, for inspiration. Below are the words of “Saint Patrick's Breastplate,” a Christian hymn whose original old Irish lyrics are traditionally attributed to Saint Patrick and his Irish ministry in the 5th century.
As we journey through our Lenten journey at St. John’s, and on this important day for many who call St. Patrick one of their own as their patron saint, we turn to these inspiring words—seeking comfort and trust in our God.
(For those who may not be Christian but believe in God, please interchange the word Christ with God when reciting this prayer)
Christ be with me, Christ within me
Christ behind me, Christ before me
Christ beside me, Christ to win me
Christ to comfort me and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger
Christ in hearts of all that love me
Christ in mouth of friend or stranger.
