Scripture of the Day: GN 37: 3-4, 12-13A, 17B-28A; MT 21: 33-43, 45-46
In today’s scripture, we hear the story of how instead of caring for the vineyard by working together, the tenants, desiring control, took over the land by killing the landowner’s servants and son. The story concludes as the landowner lets someone else take care of the vineyard.
The Gospel reminds us that we live in a world created by the Lord—and it belongs to Him.
For generations, people have been shouldering the responsibilities of taking care of God’s property, and in many ways failing to care for all of God’s creation with dignity and respect.
It is important to keep in mind that we are not the owners; rather, we are trusted tenants. Our responsibility is to peacefully cooperate together to make the world a better place. To realize this, we should respect God and carefully apply God’s laws into our daily life. God teaches us to love, so we should love all of God’s creation with our heart and soul.
