- Hospitality Management Students visited the Resorts World Hyatt Regency Hotel for Career Day Event
The Collins College of Professional Studies recently sent several students in the Hospitality Management, BS program to the Hyatt Regency Hotel at World Resorts Casino, which is a brand-new hotel located near the JFK airport. The group attended a Career Day event presented by the hotel department managers and participated in a hotel and casino tour.
It was a wonderful in-person site visit for hospitality management students to learn about the hotel and casino business and to build relationships with hotel managers. The hotel has sponsored this virtual mentorship program with Gumbo Coalition University, since 2020, and one of the students was accepted to the scholarship program of 2022.
“I had the chance to witness the way each department worked with one another throughout the hotel. This is my first time visiting a Hyatt Regency hotel in New York City, it's newly renovated and opened merely two months ago so everything looked extremely lavish and furnished. There were multiple speakers from different departments in the hotels, thus I could hear from multiple perspectives. I'm glad to hear personal stories and how they got to work at Resorts World. I'm more interested in the Hyatt side, so I find the hotel aspect to be more interesting and useful.” - said Lily Nguyen (Hospitality Management student, Gumbo Coalition University Class of 2022)
