St. John’s University’s Office of Global Programs invites you to participate in special events during International Education Week (IEW) November 18–22. Enjoy the Johnnies World’s Fair, a Capoeira martial arts performance, international food tastings, crash courses in French or Italian, discussions with special guests, a job opportunity webinar, and more!
IEW is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide and is a joint initiative of the US Department of State and the US Department of Education.

International Education Week Kickoff: Johnnies World’s Fair
Monday, November 18

Marillac Terrace
Join the Office of Global Programs for the kickoff for International Education Week!
This event will highlight some of the many diverse countries and cultures represented by our University community. Engage with St. John’s international students as they present their special customs and culture. Enjoy a demonstration of the Brazilian martial art and dance form Capoeira by the Capoeira Terreiro da Lua group at 2 p.m. and snacks from the top-10 home countries of St. John’s international students.

“Models for Supporting Entrepreneurs: Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem in Haiti”

You are invited to join this conversation with Haitian entrepreneur Marc Alain Boucicault and James M. Kinsley, M.B.A., Instructor, Management, Entrepreneurship, Consulting, and Operations, and Director, Venture & Innovation Center. Mr. Boucicault, a social entrepreneur and tech ecosystem builder, is the founder of Banj, Haiti’s largest coworking space and entrepreneurship hub. It connects various communities to promote innovation in Haiti and the Caribbean, while supporting change-makers globally. He will discuss the findings of a Case Study on Banj in Haiti written by the Inter-American Development Bank.

Guided Tour of the United Nations

Learn about the history and work of the United Nations during this guided tour. You will visit the General Assembly, Security Council Chamber, Trusteeship Council Chamber, and Economics and Social Council Chamber. Sponsored by the Office of International Education, this event is free and open to the first 20 students who sign up. Instructions for the meeting will be sent after registration is complete.
