- Economics department shares "Writing and Video Contest"
St. John's University - Students are encouraged to submit essays or videos to the Henry George School of Social Science’s (HGSS) 4th Annual Writing & Video Contests by their May 5, 2025 registration deadline. Tobin College of Business is home of the Henry George Chair in Economics and hosts a lecture series based on the work of economist Henry George, a progressive economist and social reformer whose impact still resonates today.
HGSS is seeking entries that explore a menu of topics including climate change, impact of artificial intelligence on labor and the economy, land value taxation, monopolies, social and economic inequality, or a combination of these topics. The top 3 essays/videos from each contest will be awarded monetary prizes (see below for more details) and will be considered for posting on the Henry George School of Social Science’s website and related social media platforms.

- Full essay submission deadline: Friday, July 11, 2025 by 11:59:59 PM ET
- Awards announcement: Tuesday, September 2, 2025
