- Call for Nominations – 2020 Vincentian Convocation Honorees
As you may know, the Vincentian Center for Church and Society organizes the nominations of the women, men, and organizations whom we honor annually at our Vincentian Convocation in September. We submit these names to the Executive Vice President for Mission and the University President.
At this point, I seek your assistance in identifying some individuals or groups that carry forth our Catholic and Vincentian values. They need not be alumni or connected with alumni, although this is an added bonus.
There are five awards:
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal: Given to an outstanding Catholic laywoman who embodies in her life the values and vision of Mother Seton.
St. Vincent de Paul Medal: Given to an outstanding Catholic layman who embodies in his life the ideals and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
Caritas Medal: Given for service of the poor in the New York metropolitan area.
International Medal: Given for distinguished contributions to international goodwill.
Frederic Ozanam Award: Given to an organization (i.e., church or secular, for-profit, or not-for-profit) which demonstrates success and creativity in integrating quality service with effective, efficacious, respectful concern for the poor or needy.
I appreciate all suggestions. The person can be quite “ordinary” but committed to promoting and defending the rights of the marginalized. We seek a broad range of nominees.
To submit your nominee, please use this brief application. Nominations are accepted up until May 13, 2020.
*Because of the uncertainty caused by COVID-19, University Events are subject to modification or cancellation*
Peace,
Rev. Patrick J. Griffin, C.M.
