- April is Stress Awareness Month
April is Stress Awareness Month, a collective opportunity to pay attention to our health and learn successful coping strategies for dealing with life stressors. Stress is something we all experience, often multiple times a day. It is a normal and healthy reaction that occurs when we view what is happening to us as a threat, when we find it difficult to cope with uncertainty, or when we have taken on too much.
There are several ways to manage stress and feel more in control of your situation. The University’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has tips, simple breathing exercises, a template to create your own action plan, an upcoming virtual Zumba session, and more resources for managing stress.
Remember that the EAP offers 24/7 confidential support in the moment to help when things seem overwhelming. The EAP helps alleviate the stress of finding services to meet caregiving, daily convenience, health and wellness, legal, and financial needs. Contact the EAP at 800-833-8707 or visit www.myccaonline.com (company code: stjohns).
Take care and be well.
