- Amanda Kimbo, CCPS Student who worked on the short film, "The Neighbor's Window" won Best Live Action Short Film at the Oscars!
Three years ago, Amanda Kimbo, now a senior at the Collins College of Professional Studies, accepted an offer to work as a production assistant for a film being shot in Queens. This film, titled The Neighbor's Window, just won Best Live Action Short at the Oscars!
Here is Amanda's story:
During spring semester of 2017, Professor Weber sent out an email asking if anyone was interested in volunteering as a production assistant for a production company coming to campus to shoot a commercial for Peace Corps. I responded and was sent the producers contact information. I met the crew in DAC the following Saturday, and worked as a PA and background actor for the commercial. After the shoot the producer asked if I was available to work on additional commercials, some of which included Spotify and GE. I was eventually contacted by the producer, to work as a PA and a background actor for a short film directed by Marshall Curry. The short film, The Neighbor's Window was nominated for an Oscar and won for Best Live Action short.
