- Additional Paid Leave Time for Covid-19 Vaccination
Under a recently enacted New York State law, employees may utilize up to four hours of paid leave to receive a single COVID-19 vaccine, and up to eight hours of paid leave to receive a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine (up to four hours per injection). Paid leave taken for this purpose will not be charged against any other leave to which an employee is otherwise entitled.
As with any scheduled leave time, it is important for you to advise your supervisor with enough notice to arrange coverage. Additionally, for employees who complete timesheets, and their supervisors who approve timesheets, we ask that you indicate “Comp Time” on your timesheet on the appropriate date, and your supervisor indicate “Vaccine + date of vaccine” in the comments section.
For employees who do not complete timesheets, we ask that you send an email to your supervisor indicating the date/timeframe and reason for the leave time. Supervisors are expected to maintain a time record of leaves for each employee.
Vaccination leave time applies to COVID-19 vaccines received on or after March 12, 2021. Notify the Office of Payroll to request an adjustment in leave time if you took sick leave to receive the COVID-19vaccine on or after March 12. Payroll can be reached at 718-990-2572; [email protected].
