- Academic Calendar Changes – Spring, 2021
As the fall semester nears its halfway point, we write to you today to provide updated information on changes to the academic calendar for spring, 2021. Upon the recommendation of the University’s Academic Calendar Committee comprised of faculty, administrators and students and with the approval of Dr. Gempesaw, spring semester classes will now begin on Thursday, January 28 instead of Wednesday, January 20.
In addition to the change of the start date of the spring semester, classes will be held on President’s Day Monday, February 15 and there will be no spring break. No changes are being made to Easter recess and Final Exam/Assessment week will be conducted from May 6-12.
The main reason for the calendar adjustment is to prioritize the health and safety of our students, faculty, administrators, and staff by reducing spring break travel and the potential COVID-19 exposure of members of the campus community. We know that this change may disrupt your spring break vacation planning and we want to communicate this to you as early as possible.
For additional information on the spring academic calendar, please refer to our online calendar. As we continue to navigate the uncertainties related to the COVID-19 health crisis, we are grateful for your continued patience as we work to keep our community safe.
