The 15-credit Advanced Certificate in Business Analytics curriculum provides the skills, insight, and capability to transform data into insightful information to lead businesses to better decision making. The Advanced Certificate in Business Analytics program sharpens students’ skills in planning, decision-making, and implementation through case studies and hands-on exercises. Students gain perspectives on contemporary theory and practice from a distinguished faculty comprising professors from St. John’s Tobin College of Business and experts from industry. Courses may be taken at the Main (Queens) campus of St. John’s University, as well as through distance education. A student can enroll in the advanced certificate program by itself or in conjunction with another graduate program (e.g., the Master of Science in Business Analytics or the Master of Business Administration with concentrations in either business analytics or information systems).

Applicants to The Tobin College of Business Graduate programs will automatically be considered for GMAT/GRE waivers for the 2022 and 2023 academic years. Applications with a GPA below 3.25 may be strengthened by submitting a GMAT/GRE score.
Students who earned their degree outside the United States must also submit a foreign credit evaluation and TOEFL/IELTS/DuoLingo scores.
Courses
The Advanced Certificate in Business Analytics requires students to complete 15 credits in graduate business analytics-related courses.
Required: Three required courses (9 credits):
- BUA 602 Business Analytics
- BUA 631 Prescriptive Analytics & Spreadsheet Modeling
- BUA 633, Predictive Analytics and Business Forecasting
Electives: Two business analytics related courses (6 credits):
- BUA 609 Advanced Managerial Statistics
- BUA 611 Machine Learning for Business
- BUA 613, Text Mining for Business Applications
- BUA 635 Big Data and Data Mining
- BUA 650 Seminar in Business Analytics
- IS 601 Advanced Computer Applications for Business
- IS 605 Applied Computer Language

Admissions
Application Requirements
All applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or the international equivalent prior to enrollment at the graduate level. In addition to the application form and non-refundable application fee, candidates should submit the following:
- Statement of professional goals and resume, which can be uploaded as part of the application for admission
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools attended.
- One letter of recommendation, obtained from professional or academic references
- Official TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for applicants whose native language is not English
- Students with international credits must also submit a course-by-course foreign credit evaluation with GPA calculation from a NACES member
