Kevin Thompson ’09CPS
Quick-witted and gregarious, Brooklyn native Kevin Thompson ’09CPS is using the skills he attained at St. John’s University to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry.
“During my junior year, St. John’s literally handed me the one tool I would use for the rest of my life—a microphone,” said the former communication arts major, who hosted his first event while serving as an orientation leader. “If it were not for that experience, I would have never honed my hosting chops.”
Today, Thompson works as a host for an entertainment company called Untouchable Events. He also has his own company, KT ENT, which he started in 2012. One of his most recognizable roles is that of Mr. Moviefone for AOL Moviefone. Thompson’s first job after college was working as the studio warm-up personality for the hit TV show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Thompson is quick to offer a litany of extracurricular activities that prepared him for his career in entertainment. “As a manager of the Women’s Track and Field Team,” he said, “I learned to be diligent and precise. As president of my fraternity, I learned how to deal with different personalities. And from being a member of the President’s Society, I gained polish.” The lesson, he offered, is this: “you learn so much from getting involved.”
