Community College Partnerships

St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
If you have earned an Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.) degree, you may be eligible for an associate degree package of 60 transfer credits. Upon admission to St. John’s University, you must successfully complete a minimum additional 60 credit hours that includes six semester hours in philosophy and six semester hours in theology, as well as the requirements for your selected major concentration.

The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies
If you have earned an Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.), or the Associate of Occupational Studies (A.O.S.), your coursework will be reviewed as it applies to your program of study. Upon admission to St. John’s University, you will be waived from the following St. John’s required coursework. It is important to note that these are not credit waivers. You must fulfill all credit requirements by completing general electives in place of the waived courses. 

• FYS 1000 (First Year Seminar)
• PHI 3000 (Metaphysics) 
• THE Sacred Text (Theology)

The Peter J. Tobin College of Business
If you are a transfer student entering the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program in The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, you will have your academic record evaluated to determine the courses applicable to your degree program. It is advised that if you plan to take courses at a community college, you should take most of your work in the arts and sciences, including macro and microeconomics, and have a firm background in mathematics. For strong consideration, it is recommended that you have precalculus or calculus complete prior to enrollment. 

College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
If you are a transfer student entering the Bachelor of Science degree programs in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, you will have your academic record evaluated to determine the courses applicable to your degree program. 

The School of Education
If you are a transfer student accepted by The School of Education, you will receive an evaluation of your transfer record listing the courses applicable to your program of study at St. John’s. If you are a transfer student with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, you will be considered for waivers for the courses listed below. It is important to note that these are not credit waivers. St. John’s will review and consider excess transfer credits (liberal arts courses that are not required for the program), in lieu of the University Core required course(s)).

• PHI 2200 (Ethics)
• PHI 3000 (Metaphysics)

If you are applying without an associate degree, your credits are transferred to the best advantage provided they are applicable to your degree. In addition to fulfilling major requirements and the philosophy and theology requirements, you may have to complete certain University core curriculum requirements.
