The 5-Year Dual Degree in Childhood Education and TESOL equips graduates to excel in culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms and ensures compliance with New York State regulations for English Language Learners. This program blends a strong foundation in applied linguistics with practical experience, integrating theoretical knowledge with field-based practice. The BSEd/MSEd in Childhood Education and TESOL program readies graduates for multicultural and linguistically diverse education settings by integrating dual fieldwork and student teaching experiences with multiple visits to schools with English Language Learners. Classroom Settings for ENL Teachers
Standalone ENL
Ideal if you prefer focused settings, where you'll work with small groups of ELLs, specifically on English language development.
Integrated ENL
If you enjoy collaborative teaching, this setting allows you to co-teach with a content area teacher, integrating English language teaching within broader subject matter.
Content-based Integrated ENL
For those who prefer to teach within their content area, teach English through the content areas studied in your B.S.Ed., using your TESOL skills to enhance language acquisition in subject-specific classes.
