The advanced certificate program will sharpen your skills in planning, forecasting, decision-making, and implementation through case studies and hands-on exercises. You will gain perspectives on theory and practice from a distinguished faculty comprising professors from St. John’s University’s Tobin College of Business, internal audit professionals, and experts from Fortune 100 companies and national and international accounting firms.
Our program offers the following benefits:
- Evenings and weekend classes are offered at our Queens or Manhattan campuses, or online, allowing you to stay on your career track and complete the program in two years.
- All advanced certificate program courses may count towards our Master of Business Administration with concentrations in Risk and Financial Advisory, the Master of Science in Risk and Financial Advisory, or the Master of Science in Enterprise Risk Management
- Admission is based on a portfolio approach that considers work experience, veteran status and academic background (may include GRE or GMAT waiver).
- Prior graduate course work (up to six credits) may be transferred into the program, pending approval.

Applicants to The Tobin College of Business Graduate programs will automatically be considered for GMAT/GRE waivers for the 2022 and 2023 academic years. Applications with a GPA below 3.25 may be strengthened by submitting a GMAT/GRE score.
Students who earned their degree outside the United States must also submit a foreign credit evaluation and TOEFL/IELTS/DuoLingo scores.
Courses
The Advanced Certificate program in Internal and Information Technology Audit requires two courses (6 credits) and three elective courses (9 credits) from the internal audit-related offerings of the Tobin College. The required courses are as follows:
- AIS 624 Information Technology Auditing
- AIS 628 Internal Auditing
The advanced certificate program also requires three courses (9 credits) from any graduate internal audit-related course offered by the Tobin College of Business. Students must successfully complete all five courses within a three-year period.
Admissions
Application Requirements
All applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or the international equivalent prior to enrollment at the graduate level. In addition to the application form and non-refundable application fee, candidates should submit the following:
- Statement of professional goals and resume, which can be uploaded as part of the application for admission
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools attended.
- One letter of recommendation, obtained from professional or academic references
- Official TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for applicants whose native language is not English
- Students with international credits must also submit a course-by-course foreign credit evaluation with GPA calculation from a NACES member
