Special Interest Organizations

Colleges Against Cancer – This group is a nationwide organization that includes college students, faculty, and administration in the fight against Cancer. Our goal is to educate and fund-raise for Cancer, and other healthy lifestyles. Throughout the year, we can be found on campus hosting events that educate and offer resources for our Saint John's Community. Some of our more popular off-campus events include Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Relay for Life.

Creative Writing Guild – We provide a creative outlet for the people on this campus. We will strive to promote self-expression, and literacy as a group. Our other main goal is to create a literary magazine that is valued and appreciated by the University. The Guild is to continually work to raise awareness of itself, to better allow it to accomplish its goals on campus.

Club Lifesavers – The purpose of this organization is to increase awareness of health related issues to the St. John’s community, as well to assist organizations in and around the Staten Island community.

Future Alumni Association – FAA assists the University’s Alumni Association to reach its goals by facilitating an active relationship between students and alumni.  This relationship will promote further student involvement in the University through community service projects, programming and special events. They also further the quality of the University as an institution of higher education and extend the pride, loyalty, and tradition that already exist. They promote the interests of, and understandings between, the students of the past, present, and future. They enhance the education of their classmates and prepare them to serve as future alumni leaders.

Girl’s Interest Group - The purpose of this group is to help young women with their self-esteem and provide a strong support system for them to thrive and grow. We promote individually in order to appeal to any social group as well as promote acceptance of all people. We endeavor to become well-rounded young woman and assets to society, with the potential to become excellent leaders of the community. We will foster strong bonds, based on loyalty and respect, within the group.

Student Government Inc. – SGI is a corporation ran by the student body, moderated by administration and elected by our peers. SGI functions as the governing body of all student clubs and organizations on campus as well as being the voice of the student body by acting as liaisons with the administration of the University. SGI is also responsible for allocating budgets to all the student clubs and organizations and to make certain all the rules and regulations of the University and student events on campus are upheld. Meetings held are open to all students and any concerns they may have should be voiced within the office.  SGI officers have specific office hours and can always be found in the Student Government office which is located in room B13 in the Campus Center. SGI holds elections annually in which the whole student body is welcome to run as long as a student is in good academic standing.
