POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
This program looks at the life of Mama D, one amazing lady who
enriched the lives of thousands of Los Angeles’ homeless and
forgotten through sheer determination and a single disability
check. Through the use of this powerful documentary, educational
guide and accompanying workshop, students will come to understand
how the power of one individual can make a difference in the
world.
Patti Ramey began her career as a Resident Assistant at Texas
State University where she learned that every job skill needed in
life was taught while on duty as a RA. Patty then entered graduate
school to study Student Personnel Services and received her
master’s in Education from the University of South Carolina in
2000.
Patty attended a speaking program entitled Journey to a Hate
Free Millennium on a chilly November evening in 1999. That evening
she realized her true calling was to educate people through the
power of the spoken word. This single moment began a partnership
and friendship with speaker Brent Scarpo and his company that
resulted in a career adventure in January 2006 as a speaker. This
career bridges her two life passions, education and speaking, into
one package with programs like Living like Mama D – Lessons
in
Community Service and Leadership and Last Call.
